Plastic magnet (or injection magnet) is produced by adding plastic medium to magnet powder, and then mixing and heating in an injection molding machine, injecting the blend into the molds so as to produce products of various shapes. Obviously, plastic magnet mostly serves in applications of special requirements where other forming techniques can hardly accomplish.

Common magnet powders for producing plastic magnet are Ferrite, NdFeB, SmCo, and SmFeN. The medium can be nylon 6, nylon 12, or PPS based on clients’ requirement for performance, cost, and application.

By applying oriented magnetic field to anisotropic magnet powder during injection increases magnetism significantly and generates the best cost-performance value under many circumstances. This technique requires more for mixed material and molds, indicating its highest technique level in plastic magnet.
