It has several types of injection molding, including plastic, rubber, ceramics and porcelain, induction, liquid metal, metal powder, and so on. Metal Powder Injection Molding (MIM) is a new production technology developed by Parmatech company in California, USA, in 1973 by integrating plastic injection molding, polymer chemistry, powder metallurgy, and metal material science. MIM mixes and fluxes fine metal powder with binder, and then granulates them into injection molding material. With precise molds the material is injected into molds to make blanks which are then treated by partially degreased and vacuum degreasing sintering into coarse blanks. Subsequently, the coarse blanks are treated by heat treatment, mechanical process, and surface treatment to metal structural parts which have high density, high accuracy, complex shapes. Most parts are treated by heat treatment, polishing, or plating, while mechanical process is avoided as possible. MIM parts have advantages such as complexity, small size, uniform interior material, high mechanical strength, and thin wall.
